Equal parts · Equivalence · Comparing fractions

LOGIC · AGES 8+ SUGGESTED

A SMALL GUIDE FOR BIG QUESTIONS.

Give play a purpose.

10 minutes, one good conversation

  1. Notice · 2 min. Ask what the pieces represent. Make a prediction before pressing anything.
  2. Explore · 5 min. Work alone or in pairs. Take turns explaining a choice. Hints and retries are part of learning. Try building the model before opening the worked answer.
  3. Explain · 3 min. Show a second way to reach the same answer. What stayed the same? What changed?

What students practise

Fraction Foundry: equal parts, equivalent fractions and visual comparisons. Supplemental practice for parts of Common Core 3.NF.A and 4.NF.A; it does not cover either standard in full.

Signal Loom: spatial logic and reasoning enrichment. Ask students to describe a path and justify each turn.

Designed around the classroom

Free play. No student profiles, advertising, trading, wagers, public chat, camera, microphone or recording. This player sends no gameplay analytics. Signal Loom saves puzzle progress on this browser; use a fresh browser profile for a fresh start.

Keyboard and touch controls. Untimed learning. Readable explanations. Suggested ages are guidance for adults choosing an activity.

Accessibility and choosing a game
